Winter Pool Sessions – 2026

What to expect

These are open pool sessions for whitewater kayakers of all experience levels. Volunteers will be on hand to help paddlers learn the basics of whitewater kayaking, work on rolling for the first time, or improve an existing roll.
Whether you’re brand new or dialing things in for spring, this is a relaxed, supportive environment to learn and practice.

Location

Goucher College Pool (Building 3D). Park in the Decker Lot and walk down the hill toward the building. Enter through the side door on the right-hand side of the building when facing it from the parking lot. Campus map: https://www.goucher.edu/documents/Goucher-Campus-Map.pdf

Costs

  • BCKC Members:

    • $10 for your first night

    • $5 per night after that

  • ACA Members: $5 per session (bring your ACA card)

  • Non-Members: $10 per session

  • Instructors: Pool fee waived on nights you instruct

Annual BCKC dues: $20 per family/household
Please join or renew online before the first session to help keep check-in quick and easy.

Rules & Safety

  • Helmets required

  • No float bags

  • Boats must be clean

  • Minors must be supervised

  • Don’t block emergency access

  • Please exit promptly after sessions

Pool layout:
If you are not actively working with an instructor standing in the pool, please remain in the deep end for everyone’s safety.

Waiver (Required Each Year)

All participants must sign the ACA liability waiver.
Minors require a parent/guardian signature.

New Paddlers

Limited loaner boats may be available. Please arrange ahead of time if possible.
